Deck the halls with lots of puppies!
This easy craft features your favorite dog playing in the snow. It’s simple enough to create with your kids, and affordable enough to make a whole pack of snow dogs for your tree. You can also use this technique to make a decoration to hang year-round.
What You’ll Need For This Project:
- Custom Artwork Of Your Dog From DogBreedCartoon
- Clear Plastic Ornament, found in craft stores
- Acrylic Paint and Brushes
- Poster Board
- Mod Podge or glue stick
- Super Glue
- Fake snow, glitter or your preferred filling
- Ribbon or ornament hanger
Step 1: Paint Your Ornament
First, use acrylic paint to decorate the inside of each half of your ornament. You can use green paint to create a border of trees, or gold glitter paint for a festive finish. Let dry for at least 15 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare Your Dog
Use a gluestick or Mod Podge to affix your dog cartoon to a piece of poster board. Let dry for 30 minutes, then carefully cut around your dog, leaving a small box at the bottom.
Once dry, fold back the box so you can glue your dog upright to the back half of your ornament. You can also paint a tiny scarf or other winter apparel on your pup.
Step 3: Fill And Close
Add snow to half of your ornament, then put the two halves together. Add more or less snow as desired. You can add a pinch of cornstarch to control static so the snow drifts freely inside the ornament. Once you’ve added the perfect amount of snow, add a thin layer of superglue around the edge of one half and hold the ornament together until the glue dries.
Step 4: Hang And Celebrate!
You can use a ribbon or an ornament hook to put your new ornament on your tree, or anywhere you’d like.
