10 Perks Of Loving A #Pitbull

It’s wonderful to have an American Pit Bull Terrier in your life. These dogs have an incredible capacity to love their family and there’s nothing they enjoy more than spending time with their favorite humans. Here are just a few of the other perks of sharing a home with a Pit Bull:

1. American Pit Bull Terriers are flexible spooners.

Are you a big spoon or a little spoon? An American Pit Bull Terrier loves snuggling so much, they’ll always let you have first dibs on your favorite cuddling position. Whether you lie down in front of them so they can wrap a paw around you and rest that big, heavy head on your neck, or you lie down behind them and cuddle them like a baby, they’ll just be happy to be close to you.

2. A Pit Bull is really just a mini hippo.

With that big head and wide snout, a Pit Bull is colloquially known as a “house hippo.” Though your Pit Bull will not be able to crush a watermelon between its jaws, they’re happy to chow down on carrot sticks, loudly crunching and smacking their lips like a giant swamp critter.

3. Pit Bulls have a big ol’ head.

The vast surface area of a Pit Bull’s head offers a perfect scratching landscape. It’s also great for perching hats, stacks of treats, or perhaps a crown. It’s both agonizing and wonderful when a Pibble lays their head on your chest. You won’t be able to get up without waking the pup, but you’ll also feel an incredible sense of being loved. It’s a win-win.

4.American Pit Bull Kisses are for good luck.

It only takes one or two swipes of a Pit Bull tongue to completely dampen your face. Some people don’t enjoy this, but it’s really the best symbol of good fortune. Whenever you get licked in the face by a Pit Bull, especially if they manage to slip their tongue into your mouth, it’s a sign that you’re loved by a Pit Bull and entitled to even more kisses. What could be more fortunate than that?!

5. A Pit Bull doesn’t have to hit the gym to look buff.

As long as they are not obese, most Pit Bulls have a structured body type that looks tough, even if they are couch potatoes. Walking with your Pit Bull makes you look buff by association, even if you don’t have a six pack. When you take your Pit Bull for runs and hikes, their muscle tone becomes even more well-defined, and you’ll easily have the toughest looking dog on the block. Strangers don’t have to know that you also have the sweetest dog on the block!

6. These dogs are really quirky.

Some American Pit Bull Terriers like to sleep with their legs in the air. Some of them make weird howling noises. Others like to suckle on blankets. You never know what your little weirdo is going to do next. These dogs truly have a sense of humor that will keep you on your toes.

7. A Pit Bull is environmentally friendly.

It’s important to wash your bottles and jars before chucking them into the recycling bin. A Pibble is happy to help, licking yogurt cups and peanut butter jars completely clean before you discard them. That wide, powerful tongue can reach even the deepest corners and crevices.

8. They’re ridiculously clingy.

You can’t even go to the bathroom without your Pit Bull sniffing and snorting through the crack of the door, just to make sure you’re okay. Some people refer to their Pit Bulls as furry tumors. Really, though, these dogs will grow on you, and soon become as essential as one of your limbs. You’ll find yourself looking for dog-friendly restaurants and parks to make sure you don’t have to leave them home alone when you make plans. They really appreciate any opportunity to spend time with you.

9. Your kids will love them more than you.

It’s unfortunate that your Pit Bull can’t tell your kids to clean their room, because they’d probably listen. A Pit Bull is the big brother or sister every kid needs in their life. Though they should always be supervised, you’ll notice that your kid and your dog will develop a secret language, mostly based on your kid sneaking scraps of their food to that big hippo mouth.

10. They’ll only break your heart once.

Sadly, a Pit Bull only lives an average of 13 years, which is not nearly enough time to spend with such a loving creature. Though you can continue to bring more American Pit Bull Terriers into your life, each one will be unique and have a special place in your heart.

Beautiful article, as an owner of an old family red nose I agree with everything stated about their personality and kindness. Life would sure be sad without our Bobby.
